Arduino Day Philippines: Pioneering Affordable LoRaWAN Connectivity in the Philippines

Arduino Day Philippines 2025, held on March 22 at STI Cubao, marked a milestone for IoT Launcher as we soft-launch our LoRaWAN Connectivity On-demand service here in the Philippines. Our participation not only allowed us to showcase our latest LoRaWAN coverage program but also reinforced our commitment to democratize IoT development through accessible, cost-effective solutions that uses LoRaWAN connectivity. This program LoRaWAN Connectivity On-demand will provide affordable and easy to use LoRaWAN connectivity and LoRaWAN coverage in the Philippines for students and IoT developers.

Arduino Day Philippines: A Convergence of Creativity and Technology

Arduino Day, a global initiative celebrating the Arduino platform’s impact on education and prototyping, has long been a cornerstone for tech enthusiasts worldwide. The 2025 local celebration in the Philippines, held at STI Cubao, highlighted the country’s growing role in hardware innovation, featuring a hackathon, project/product demos, and keynote speeches emphasizing sustainable and scalable solutions that use Arduino.

Over a thousand attendees from university students to seasoned engineers flocked to the event, eager to explore cutting-edge tools and network with industry pioneers.

For IoT Launcher, this year’s Arduino Day was particularly significant: it served as the first official launchpad for our LoRaWAN Connectivity On-Demand service. By aligning our announcement with this community-driven event, we aimed to directly engage the developers and students who stand to benefit most from affordable, hassle-free LoRaWAN access.

Showcasing IoT Launcher’s Gateway Solutions

At the heart of our booth was a demo of IoT Launcher’s preconfigured LoRaWAN gateways and sensor devices. Students and developers interacted with our plug-and-play kits, which included:

  • Multi-channel gateways capable of covering urban and semi-urban areas.
  • Battery-powered environmental sensors for air quality and temperature monitoring.
  • Customizable dashboards for real-time data visualization.

“I’ve always wanted to experiment with LoRaWAN, but the cost of gateways held me back,” said Mark, a computer engineering student from National University. “With IoT Launcher’s preconfigured setup, I can finally focus on building my flood-detection thesis without worrying about LoRaWAN connectivity hurdles.”

This sentiment echoed across the booth, as attendees listed on our discussion on how our LoRaWAN coverage here in the Philippine can boost potential applications—from smart agriculture in rural areas to disaster-response systems in areas prone to calamities.

LoRaWAN Connectivity On-demand: A Game-Changer for Developers

Traditional LoRaWAN deployments require significant upfront investment in gateways, network servers, and maintenance a barrier for many aspiring IoT developers. Our Connectivity On-demand service eliminates these pain points by:

  1. Providing preconfigured gateways with zero setup requirements.
  2. Offering pay-as-you-go pricing tailored for academic and small-scale projects.
  3. Integrating seamless cloud connectivity for instant data transmission.

Collaborating with Industry Leaders

Arduino Day also provided a platform to connect with fellow sponsors, these interactions opened doors to potential collaborations, such as:

  • Joint workshops with Arduino Philippines to teach LoRaWAN basics.
  • Co-marketing initiatives with local tech hubs to distribute gateway kits.
  • Integration partnerships to streamline sensor-to-cloud workflows.

Evagelizing LoRaWAN: From Theory to Practice

Beyond hardware showcases, IoT Launcher actively engaged attendees by educating them on LoRaWAN’s potential. IoT Solutions Engineer Vhon Walter Morales took the stage to discuss how LoRaWAN could benefit the Philippines, highlighting its long-range, low-power advantages compared to Wi-Fi and cellular networks. He also demonstrated a smart parking system using IoT Launcher’s gateways and Arduino-based sensors and explained key concepts such as LoRa chirp modulation, data rate trade-offs, and network security.

The enthusiasm at Arduino Day Philippines reinforced IoT Launcher’s commitment to expanding its Connectivity On-Demand service. In the coming months, the company plans to launch a student-led LoRaWAN network and campus program through the IoT Connectivity Hub, publish open-source Arduino libraries optimized for its plug-and-play LoRaWAN gateways, and collaborate with local governments to deploy LoRaWAN infrastructure in underserved regions.
